About Me

I’m Laura Sanchez Bolanos, founder of Vereda Advisory — a strategic consultancy dedicated to helping companies and governments worldwide navigate the path to decarbonization.

With over 15 years at the intersection of finance, energy, and climate policy, I bring a deep and unique perspective to driving the energy transition. Most recently, I was Executive Director and Head of Sustainability Equity Research for the Americas at Morgan Stanley. There, I advised institutional investors on sustainable investment strategies, quantified the environmental and economic impact of industry shifts and climate policies, published influential research on U.S. decarbonization pathways, and engaged with corporate and policy leaders on the evolving climate landscape.

Before focusing exclusively on sustainability, I spent several years advising on equity investment opportunities in the U.S. Power, Utilities, and Clean Tech sectors. This gave me a solid grasp of U.S. utility regulatory frameworks and the operational and financial dynamics of the power sector. I worked closely with C-suite executives of some of the largest electric utilities, authored research on industry trends, and regularly hosted investor and industry events.

My foundation in energy policy was shaped through hands-on work with the Climate Policy Initiative, Environmental Defense Fund, and the U.S. Department of Energy-backed American Jobs Project.

Today, at Vereda Advisory, I identify and analyze innovative ways to finance the energy transition. I help clients navigate the fast-changing world of clean energy and climate policy, quantify risks and opportunities, and design credible, pragmatic decarbonization strategies. Whether you’re a private investor, public entity, non-profit, or corporate sustainability team, I partner with you at the intersection of technical analysis, policy fluency, and financial realism.

I hold a Master of Public Policy from UC Berkeley, where I specialized in energy and environmental policy, as well as a Licentiate degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. I’m fluent in English and Spanish and passionate about bridging the gap between global ambition and local execution in climate and energy solutions.
